In the final phase of the NONA – New Governance for New Spaces project, the Institute of Architecture and Urban & Spatial Planning of Serbia (IAUS), in cooperation with the City of Šabac, is actively engaged not only in the organisation of the final project meeting, but also in the international scientific dissemination of the results and methodological approaches developed throughout the project implementation.

As the NONA – New Governance for New Spaces project enters its final phase, the Institute of Architecture and Urban & Spatial Planning of Serbia (IAUS), in cooperation with the City Administration of Šabac, continues its efforts to disseminate project results through relevant scientific and professional platforms.

Organized by the Serbian Town Planners Association in cooperation with the Republic Geodetic Authority and the Institute of Architecture and Urban & Spatial Planning of Serbia (IAUS), with the support of the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation of the Republic of Serbia and the Serbian Chamber of Engineers

As part of the BioRider – Bridging Communities: Co-creating a Sustainable and Beautiful Đetinja Riverfront project, the conference and participatory workshops dedicated to the development of a future bicycle route between Užice and Sevojno along the Đetinja River were held in Užice on 21 and 22 May 2026.

From 23 to 25 April 2026, the international conference Investing in Heritage Revitalisation in the Danube Region “Regenerating Places, Reimagining Futures” was held in Reșița, Romania. The conference focused on urban regeneration, industrial heritage revitalisation, and the development of new governance and investment models for degraded areas. The event was jointly organised by the Municipality of Reșița, MKBT, the Iskriva Institute from Slovenia

For the monograph Environmental Security, Hazards and Risks, published by the Institute of Architecture and Urban & Spatial Planning of Serbia (Special edition no. 96), authors Prof. Dr Vladica Ristić and Prof. Dr Marija Maksin were awarded the City of Belgrade’s “Despot Stefan Lazarević” Award for 2025 for an outstanding work in the field of natural and technical sciences.

The Institute of Architecture and Urban & Spatial Planning of Serbia participated in the exhibition Planning Networking 6, organized within the framework of the 11th International Scientific and Professional Conference “Local Government in Spatial and Settlement Planning”

Representatives of the Institute of Architecture and Urban & Spatial Planning of Serbia (IAUS), together with colleagues from the City of Šabac, participated in the NONA project meeting held on 28–29 January 2026 in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.

The Institute of Architecture and Urban Planning of Serbia for the award of the annual Milorad Macura Awards for the best master’s thesis and the best doctoral dissertation in the field of architecture and urbanism in 2024/2025 received relevant quality papers. When selecting and finalizing the awarded papers, the Commission was guided by previously established criteria, such as the theoretical relevance of the topic, topicality and contemporaneity, applicability, methodological structure, graphic clarity and clarity of the research results.
