The Institute of Architecture and Urbanism of Serbia traditionally awards annual prizes for the best master’s theses and doctoral dissertations defended at the faculties of the University of Serbia, which have departments or chairs in the field of architecture, urbanism, and spatial planning, as follows:

The “Milorad Macura” Annual Award for the best master’s thesis in the field of architecture and urbanism;

The “Milorad Macura” Annual Award for the best doctoral dissertation in the field of architecture and urbanism;

The “Dimitrije Perišić” Annual Award for the best master’s thesis in the field of spatial planning;

The “Dimitrije Perišić” Annual Award for the best doctoral dissertation in the field of spatial planning.

The “Milorad Macura” Annual Award in the field of architecture and urbanism

The “Milorad Macura” Annual Award for the best master’s thesis in the field of architecture and urbanism in the school year 2020/2021 was given to Jovana Arsić, for the work entitled “Heterotopia – other places in Belgrade”, defended at the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Architecture, under the mentorship of Prof. Dr Dragana Vasiljević Tomić.

The “Milorad Macura” annual award for the best doctoral dissertation in the field of architecture and urbanism in the school year 2020/2021, was awarded to Dr. Marjan Petrović MScArch, for the dissertation entitled “Architecture of multifamily housing Niš in the Modern period from 1945-1980 “, defended at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture, University of Niš, at the Department of Housing, under the mentorship of Prof. Dr Aleksandar Keković.

The “Dimitrije Perišić” Annual Award in the field of spatial planning

The “Dimitrije Perišić” Annual Award for the best master’s thesis in the field of spatial planning in the school year 2020/2021 was awarded to Vladimir Maksimović, for the work “Improvement of the methodology of planning of the agricultural land usage at the local level in Serbia”, defended in September 2021 at the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Geography, and under the mentorship of Prof. Dr Tijana Dabović.

The “Dimitrije Perišić” Annual Award for the best doctoral dissertation in the field of spatial planning in the school year 2020/2021 was awarded to Dragana Popović, for the doctoral dissertation “Reorganization of local governments as a factor of spatial and functional development of Republika Srpska”, defended in May 2021 at the University in Belgrade – Faculty of Geography, done under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Velimir Šećerov.

The “Milorad Macura” Annual Award in the field of architecture and urbanism

The “Milorad Macura” Annual Award for the best master’s thesis in the field of architecture and urbanism was awarded equally to Andrija Vujović, for the work “Life is a dream. Outdoor theater. The natural core of Belgrade.” defended at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Belgrade, and to Zlata Stanojević, for the ” FLAGSHIP PROJECTS – Creative urban regeneration of Golubac // City marina – a new city gate”, defended at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Belgrade.

The “Milorad Macura” Anual Award for the best doctoral dissertation in the field of architecture and urbanism was given equally to Aleksandra Đorđević, for the dissertation entitled “Good in planning: A model of value reasoning in the practice of city development”, defended at the Faculty of Architecture and to Jelena Bogosavljević for the dissertation “Architectural Fiction: Project and Reality Beyond Reality”, defended at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Belgrade.

The “Dimitrije Perišić” Annual Award in the field of spatial planning

The “Dimitrije Perišić” Annual Award for the best master’s thesis in the field of spatial planning this year was given to Stevan Stojiljković, for the work entitled “Strategy for treatment and evacuation of wastewater from the municipality of Velika Plana”, defended at the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Geography.
Since there weren’t any proposals submitted in this category, the “Dimitrije Perišić” Annual Award for the best doctoral dissertation in the field of spatial planning was not awarded in 2020.

The “Milorad Macura” Annual Award in the field of architecture and urbanism

The “Milorad Macura” Annual Award for the best master’s thesis in the field of architecture and urbanism was given to Kosta Dimitrijevic, for the work entitled “VOLLMOND: Visible and invisible space_architecture of movement”, defended at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Belgrade.

The “Milorad Macura” Anual Award for the best doctoral dissertation in the field of architecture and urbanism is given to Dejan Ecet, for the dissertation “Contribution to the development of methods of the architectural design of school buildings”, defended at the Faculty of Technical Sciences, University of Novi Sad, Department of Architecture and Urbanism.

The “Dimitrije Perišić” Annual Award in the field of spatial planning

The “Dimitrije Perišić” Annual Award for the best master’s thesis in the field of spatial planning was awarded equally to:

Bojana Ivanović, for the work entitled “Defining indicators of the sustainability of urban metabolism”, defended at the Faculty of Geography, University of Belgrade; and to Sara Andjelković for the “Euro-regions as an instrument for reducing regional disproportions of the Republic of Serbia”, defended at the Faculty of Geography, University of Belgrade.

The “Milorad Macura” Annual Award in the field of architecture and urbanism

The “Milorad Macura” Annual Award for the best master’s thesis in the field of architecture and urbanism was given to Milica Gruičić, for the work entitled “Counterpoint: Music Academy, Ušće Park, New Belgrade. Possibilium Harmoniae”, defended at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Belgrade.

The “Milorad Macura” Annual Award for the best doctoral dissertation in the field of architecture and urbanism was given to Sladjana Milićević, for the dissertation entitled “Dissociative Space of Modernity: Discourse of Gaps in Architecture and Visual Arts of the XX and the beginning of the XXI century”, defended at the Faculty of Technical Sciences, University of Novi Sad, Department of Architecture and Urbanism.

The “Dimitrije Perišić” Annual Award in the field of spatial planning

The “Dimitrije Perišić” Annual Award for the best master’s thesis in the field of spatial planning was given to Milan Veselinović, for the “Analysis of the potential and possibilities of using biomass for energy purposes in AP Vojvodina”, defended at the Faculty of Geography, University of Belgrade.
