The Institute of Architecture and Urban & Spatial Planning of Serbia (IAUS), in collaboration with seventeen European organisations and institutions from Slovenia, Germany, Bulgaria, Croatia, Romania, Hungary, Ukraine, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Moldova, is participating in the international project NONA – New gOvernance for New spAces, within the Interreg Danube Programme.

The project’s objective is to develop a governance model for integrating green investments into the sustainable urban and territorial development process across the Danube region. By fostering collaboration between the public, private, and civil sectors, the project strengthens institutional capacities in cities and promotes the implementation of new financing instruments for urban development, in line with the principles of a green and just economy.

Within the project, IAUS is actively involved in developing a methodology to encourage green investments in the regeneration of degraded urban areas. This methodology will be tested in cooperation with urban planning experts in the City of Šabac, as well as in nine other cities across the Danube region. The findings from these pilot cases will be synthesised and further developed into the Green Investment Model, which will serve as a guide for local communities to plan and finance projects that support the transition towards new, sustainable governance models for urban and territorial development.
