The team of the Institute of Architecture and Urban & Spatial Planning of Serbia attended the international conference Danube future works – New European Bauhaus on the Danube, which was held at the Hochschule für Gestaltung HfG Ulm Foundation, a design school in Ulm, Germany, from May 12th to 14th 2024.
The conference was organized in cooperation with the consortium of the international project NONA – New governance for New spaces (Institute being a member), supported by the Danube Region Programme.
The objective of the conference is improved understanding of the thematic framework of the EU umbrella policy – the New European Bauhaus, as well as financial instruments for the implementation of integrated approach to urban regeneration in the cities of the Danube region.
The representatives of the European Commission delegation contributed to the conference: President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, EU Commissioner for Cohesion and Reforms Elisa Ferreira, Minister for Regional Development and Housing of the Baden-Württemberg Region Nicole Razavi, Head of the New European Bauhaus Unit Alina Ujupan, as well as coordinator of priority area 3 of the Strategy for the Danube Region Irina Cozma.
Several thematic areas of the New European Bauhaus were addressed in the conference: I Innovation, II Finance, III New Management Models, IV Culture, V New Planning Instruments, and VI Inclusion. Within the framework of these thematic areas, the working team of the Institute participated in formulation of ideas for the revitalization of neglected areas in the case studies of Belgrade (Serbia), Gabrovo (Bulgaria), Ravna na Koroškem (Slovenia) and Rešice (Romania).
