Institute of architecture and Urban & Spatial Planning of Serbia participates in the international project within the Danube Region Programme NONA – New gOvernance for New spAces. Besides Serbia, project involve seighteen partners from Slovenia, Germany, Bulgaria, Croatia, Romania, Hungary, Ukraine, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Moldova.
The main objective of the project is to develop a governance model for integration of green investments into the process of sustainable urban and territorial development in the countries of the Danube region. Establishing cooperation between the public, private and civil sectors will improve institutional capacities in cities for application of new financing instruments in urban development, thus establishing the principles of green and just economy.
Within the project, Institute participates in the formation of a methodology for encouraging green investments in regeneration of neglected urban areas. Testing of the methodology will be carried out in cooperation with experts from the city of Šabac, as well as nine other cities in the countries of the Danube region. In the next steps of the NONA project, the results of testing will be translated into the Green Investment Model, which will serve as a guide for developing capacities in local communities to plan and finance processes and projects that support the transition to new, sustainable models of urban and territorial governance.
The kick-off meeting of the NONA working group was held from March 11th to 14th 2024 in the cities of Gabrovo and Sofia in Bulgaria.
