Annual Award in the Field of Architecture and Urban Planning “Milorad Macura”
The Institute of Architecture and Urban Planning of Serbia for the award of the annual Milorad Macura Awards for the best master’s thesis and the best doctoral dissertation in the field of architecture and urbanism in 2024/2025 received relevant quality papers. When selecting and finalizing the awarded papers, the Commission was guided by previously established criteria, such as the theoretical relevance of the topic, topicality and contemporaneity, applicability, methodological structure, graphic clarity and clarity of the research results.
The Commission of the Institute of Architecture and Urban Planning of Serbia for the award of the annual “Milorad Macura” award for the best master’s thesis in the field of architecture and urbanism, considered four received applications, namely: 1) proposal from the University Union Nikola Tesla – Faculty of Construction Management: a master’s thesis entitled “Urban regeneration and public spaces: theme music park, inclusivity and music therapy“, by Aleksandra Popadić; 2) proposal from the University of Niš, Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture: a master’s thesis entitled “Context in the architecture of a natural history museum: A case study in Niš“, by Aleksandar Stanković; 3) proposal from the University of Priština with temporary seat in Kosovska Mitrovica – Faculty of Technical Sciences: a master’s thesis entitled “Typological analysis and models of revitalization of traditional architecture of Gora in the function of achieving socio-economic sustainability“, by Vesnera Šerifi; and 4) proposal from the University of Novi Sad – Faculty of Technical Sciences, Department of Architecture and Urban Planning: a master’s thesis entitled “A comparative approach to generating photorealistic variations of parametric forms in real time using keyboard and voice commands“, by Slobodan Pećanac.
After reviewing all four master’s theses, the Committee made the following decision:
The “Milorad Macura” Annual Award for the best master’s thesis in the field of architecture and urban planning in the school year 2024/2025 is awarded to Vesnera Šerifi, for the work entitled “Typological analysis and models of revitalization of traditional architecture of Gora in the function of achieving socio-economic sustainability“, defended at the University of Priština with temporary seat in Kosovska Mitrovica – Faculty of Technical Sciences, under the mentorship of Prof. Dr Saja Jovanović.
The Commission of the Institute of Architecture and Urban Planning of Serbia for the award of the annual award “Milorad Macura” for the best doctoral dissertation in the field of architecture and urbanism, considered four received applications for doctoral dissertations, namely: 1) two proposals from the University of Nis, Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture, for the dissertation entitled: ”Valuation of the impact and optimization of building regulations for the improvement of the implementation of planning documents in Serbia” by Dr.Tanja Obradović and for the dissertation entitled ”Contemporary functional and visual elements of the interior design of healthcare inpatient units in hospital in Serbia” by Dr. Olivera Nikolić; 2) proposal from the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Architecture, for the dissertation entitled “A multi-criteria model for the evaluation of office buildings’ potential for conversion into hotels” by Dr. Damjana Nedeljković; and 3) proposal from the University of Novi Sad – Faculty of Technical Sciences, Department of Architecture and Urban Planning, for the dissertation entitled ”Diversity of creative forms in contemporary design in 21st century”, by Dr. Radomir Kojić.
After reviewing all four dissertations, the Committee made the following decision:
The “Milorad Macura” Annual Award for the best doctoral dissertation in the field of architecture and urban planning in the school year 2024/2025 is awarded to Dr. Damjana Nedeljković, for the work entitled “A multi-criteria model for the evaluation of office buildings’ potential for conversion into hotels”, defended at the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Architecture, under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Lidija Đokić.
The members of the Commission, Dr. Marija Lalošević, Dr. Tanja Njegić and Prof. Dr. Jelena Ivanović Vojvodić, thank all the candidates who applied and mentors supported the applications, as well as the home faculties and congratulate the awardees.
Annual Award in the Field of Spatial Planning “Dimitrije Perišić“
The Committee of the Institute of Architecture and Urban & Spatial Planning of Serbia for the Annual Award “Dimitrije Perišić” for the Best Doctoral Dissertation in the field of spatial planning considered one submitted doctoral dissertation nomination, proposed by the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Geography, entitled “Просторно-функционална организација управљања отпадом на железничкој мрежи у Србији” (eng. “Spatial–Functional Organisation of Waste Management within the Railway Network in Serbia”), authored by Nikola Ristić, PhD.
After reviewing the nominated doctoral dissertation, the Committee unanimously adopted the following decision:
The Annual Award “Dimitrije Perišić” for the Best Doctoral Dissertation in the field of spatial planning for the academic year 2024/2025 is awarded to Nikola Ristić, PhD, for the doctoral dissertation “Spatial–Functional Organisation of Waste Management within the Railway Network in Serbia”, defended in December 2024 at the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Geography, prepared under the supervision of Prof. Dejan Filipović, PhD.
