Call for applications for the ‘Milorad Macura’ and ‘Dimitrije Perišić’ awards for 2024

A call for applications is announced for the Institute for Architecture and Urbanism of Serbia awards for the best master’s theses and doctoral dissertations in the fields of architecture, urbanism, and spatial planning for the year 2024.

The Institute of Architecture and Urban & Spatial Planning of Serbia traditionally awards annual prizes for the best master’s theses and doctoral dissertations defended at the faculties of Serbian universities with departments or chairs in architecture, urbanism, and spatial planning, as well as at related faculties in the region. These include:

  • The “Milorad Macura” Annual Award for the best master’s thesis in architecture and urbanism; • The “Milorad Macura” Annual Award for the best doctoral dissertation in architecture and urbanism;
  • The “Dimitrije Perišić” Annual Award for the best master’s thesis in spatial planning; and
  • The “Dimitrije Perišić” Annual Award for the best doctoral dissertation in spatial planning.

Conditions:

  • The awards are granted for the best master’s theses and doctoral dissertations defended in the previous academic year (2023/2024), or during the current year up until December 15, 2024, for which proposals have been submitted in accordance with the announcement;
  • Proposals for the awards must be submitted in written or electronic form to the Institute’s Secretariat within 75 days from the announcement of the call, that is, from September 30 to December 15 of the current year (to the address: Bulevar kralja Aleksandra 73/II, email: iaus@iaus.ac.rs, institut.iaus@gmail.com, with the subject: For the Institute’s Award);
  • The right to propose a work for the award is held by: the dean of the faculty, the head of the department, the chair of the academic unit, the selection committee, and the thesis advisor;
  • The proposal for the awards must include the proposer’s letter, along with the following attachments: details of the proposer, details of the nominated candidate (name and surname, field of study, thesis title, short biography, contact address and phone number), details of the mentor, a brief summary/justification of the work, a copy of the master’s thesis or doctoral dissertation (mandatory in electronic form and, if possible, in printed form, which will be returned to the proposer).

The decision on awarding the prizes will be made by January 15, 2024, by the Institute’s Commissions, along with a written explanation, and will be published on the Institute’s website and through public media announcements. The awards will be presented at the ceremony on the occasion of St. Sava’s Day, January 27, at the Institute.

The annual awards consist of a plaque, a set of publications, and a presentation of the awarded work in the national journal of international significance, Arhitektura i urbanizam, published by the Institute.

The annual awards may also include a monetary prize, depending on the financial capabilities of the Institute, the amount of which is determined by the Institute’s Board of Directors, based on the proposal of the Director.
